Snake Plants (SANSEVIERIA) for the 2010 SEASON

SNAKEPLANTS / AFRICAN HEMP. These continue to be astoundingly popular on many continents--one of the few groups of plants that never go through cycles of popularity, but just keep building and building in their appeal. We intend to have sufficient stock of the following this year, including several rare variegates only available at the nursery the last several seasons. While other species and cultivars not listed currently may be among the wide range of types included in our SANSEVIERIA STARTER COLLECTION as Stock #99075 for 5 plants of our choice @ PRICE: $14.00--these seem to have become popular "gift boxes" to send other plant friends! This collection includes the sturdiest of the group. No tempermental rarities here, but a handsome collection aimed to please--a good initial introduction to these "Hemp Plants" reflecting their diversity of leaf design & habits from the "Mother in Law Tongues" to the "Hedgehogs" on to the "Birdsnests."! See below. For the more venturesome hemp fan we offer the ADVANCED SANSEVIERIA COLLECTION as Stock #99076 including 5 rarieties @ PRICE: $27.50. This collection of our choices can include a couple variegates, highly bizarre foliar forms, and rare unusual species types! If you want a specific species or cultivar, do not expect it in these collections which are drawn from the best available plants on the day we send them to you (thus insuring some true rarieties); if you want a specific plant from the following list simply order it individually by stock number and name to be added to our selections in your collection. We will not duplicate any plant in the collection which you have ordered individually.

99075 SANSEVIERIA COLLECTION:We will select a good initial introduction to these "Hemp Plants" reflecting their diversity of leaf design & habits from the "Mother in Law Tongues" to the "Hedgehogs" on to the "Birdsnests." 5 plants @ PRICE: $14.00

99076 SANSEVIERIA: ADVANCED COLLECTION: No common "Mother-in-Law Tongues" here--we will choose from bizarre foliage types, rare and uncommon species, and variegates among the 5 plants @ PRICE: $27.50

As the makeup of these collection typically changes weekly, we cannot include a particular request--if you want a specific species, cultivar or hybrid, be sure to order it individually.

68080 SANSEVIERIA AETHIOPICA [HEIDLEBERG] AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 18.00"Bushman's Cure" Called "!hwi" & taken to cure abdominal pains & diarrhoea. Flat outspread small rosettes of dark dusky green (bluish in full sun) leaves with corky margins & tips-- This is an extremely slow growing compact German clone from the collection at Heidleberg, which was shared with us by the late Tony Falco--the species is quite variable in its native range.

68082 SANSEVIERIA AUBRYTIANA AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 12.00 "Father-in-law Tongue" Large tall glossy gray green strap leaf blades held in close clumps to emphasize their pale bands of spots and blotches. Intolerant of any chill. Similar to S. longiflora which seems slightly more olive toned and less rigidly erect. These two have never bloomed here in our nursery simultaeously for olfactory comparisons (the scent is considered to be quite distinct by those in the nose); but we do recall a scent, not a fragrance, in the realm of some of the more expensive lines of spilled glue.

68270 SANSEVIERIA BALLYI 'MINNIE' [RAUH'S KENYA] AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 15.00 Bright green spiky "Hedgehog" type with many stolons (even from upper trunk); the fat upper keeled lower third leaves adorned with a papery horned edge. Much shorter and more compacted clusters of leaves than similar larger statured ones from Kenya. A Werner Rauh collection which has undergone many name changes over the years. Certainly among the cutest unfriendly plants we offer.

68088 SANSEVIERIA CANALICULATA AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 8.25 S. sulcata "probably more correct"-Pfennig. Single erect cylindric leaf per "head" with deep green longitudinal furrows; tall flower scape emerges quite separately. Needs very reliable light levels to perform well as the extremely extended slim terete leaves tend to droop precipitiously if grown in less than full sun.

68089 SANSEVIERIA CANALICULATA DWARF AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 12.50 Typically paired curved erect deep green leaves, slightly patterned, only inches tall--sometimes arching up to ten inches if grown in reduced light; forming an advancing cluster of these upthrust tusks, all grooved and shyly glossy. Excellent as a windowsill plant, beautiful for the hues it develops in lite gardening, and newly popular as a terrarium or Wardian case plant as the line of curved upthrust cyllindric leaves looks like a march of tiny tusks breaking through the surface--very macho coy. A reliably compact Madagascar collection which is probably a distinct species or may be the species trapped in a juvenile form. We have greatly increased our number of stock pots so as to never be without this for your orders.

68096 SANSEVIERIA CYLINDRICA PATULA AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 12.00 Now ready for shipping again. Please limit your orders to under 5 plants unless you prearrange your order--now that rumors of its medicinal properties are spreading, some orders are reaching unusual proportions. This is the popular "Snake Plant" with recurved terete tapered leaves, with hard tips & darker transverse bands, in handome open fans. Easy BIG fellow, always quite popular with the ladies. Once again available for shipping.

68100 SANSEVIERIA DESERTI AGA HP CGH PRICE: $ 40.00 Furrowed rounded tannish ochre to brownish-green leaves arrayed in upright rigid heavy fans--the infamous "Rhinograss" of dramatic appearance, with sharp-pointed, stemless succulent (unforgiving) bayonette leaves. Specimen houseplant demanding full sun. In short supply at times; please inquire before ordering. The price reflects the considerable time required to grow this to a shippable size.

68102 SANSEVIERIA DOONERI [HORT] AGA HP TGH PRICE: $8.50 "Fountain Plant" Arched rosettes similar to S. parva, but with wider pale tannish leaves more strap like and slightly glaucous, becoming low arched for they are far more flexible--thus making it a perfect basket subject. Delicately scented bloom spikes. Underground stolons soon fill pot with glaucous soft strapped whorls. Does best in broken light rather than full sun, thus a perfect subject for a houseplant.

68156 SANSEVIERIA FISCHERI [SINGULARIS] AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 15.00 Fabulous short thickly-swollen rigidly prostrate leaves of gray to brown-green with paler flecking; tiny concave ridge on leaf surface disappears with age as new nodes (eventually, as the clump matures) send out a "singular" single leaf up to eight feet in height--you may have to buy property in Kenya to ever achieve this eventuality, however. The showy and quite distinctive capitate inflorescence of this native of Kenya appears at ground level.

68263 SANSEVIERIA FRANCISII (SP. FKH #432) AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 18.00 Remarkable "False Astroloba" column of thickly-set short terete leaves in vertical rows, throwing ungainly side stolons and tipped with purplish-budded scented (do not translate "scented" for "fragrant") tubular flowers, a peculiar tan with odd brown streaks. "Racoon Tail" Sansevieria from Garsen, Kenya.

68108 SANSEVIERIA GRACILIS [HORT] GA HP TGH PRICE: $ 12.00 Upright stems thickly covered with pale green terete leaves, which are keeled and horned half way, with pale bands and smooth surfaces becoming grooved with age; offsetting highly decorative art noveau stolons punctuated with tufted "hedgehog" clumps of foliage which can produce bottlebrushes of pale fragrant flowers while suspended in midair. This is the clone sold by M. Singer for many years--whether or not this true species (namewise) actually exists or not is still debated.

68113 SANSEVIERIA GRANDIS AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 15.00 LIMITED AVAILABILITYCreeping rhizomes send heads of two to five wide leathery leaves, furling out from narrowed petioles, of richly-patterned emerald-tones. Mature heads can produce spikes of white tubular flowers. "Somali Good Luck Plant" does best in very constantly warm conditions, tolerating some low-light conditions--never reaches the massive size of masoniana with which it is confused in the Florida trade.

68118 SANSEVIERIA GUINEENSIS VARIEGATA AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 25.00 "Golden Hemp" Wavy gray-green waxy leaves--usually under one foot in length-- richly margined in creamy-yellow and distinctly curved under at margins as they mature; rarely more than three leaves in a "head." Quite striking plant which must be constantly warm-otherwise the nearly opaque variegation can be quite easily damaged. This is seriously beautiful; but avoid any chill and avoid direct sun.

68304 SANSEVIERIA HALLII AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 35.00 Holly Gate #019, the justly famous and astoundingly popular "Baseball Bat." Unusually slow growing collector's plant featuring very thick short wide leaves with pillowed-flat upper surface; blackish banded with white horn rims. Not as vigorous nor as large as the similarly toned Sansevieria fischeri. Fab.

68452 SANSEVIERIA HUMBERTIANA [HORT] AGA HP TGH PRICE: $35.00 Impressively massive out arched leaves deeply ridged and decoratively banded--like a S. phillipsiae on steroids with larger harder leaves, yet with same pattern of arborescent central stalk with rigidly outflung offsets. This is the distinct clone introduced by our friends at Out of Africa. Similar to the plant we maintain as 'Stella,' we realize that the nomenclature is still undetermined and unresolved.

68121 SANSEVIERIA HYACINTHOIDES AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 10.00 Seed collected in the Transvaal by Kirstenbosch Botanic Gardens Yet some writers still consider this correct for hort. guineensis (a Ceylon species!)--but this still seems quite distinct with handsome thick, curved abbreviated strap leaves, strongly banded, and margined with maroon brown wavy edges with a distinct papery rim. We ship the Kirstenbosch clone--you can call it what you will. Excellent houseplant--the name refers to the scent of the blossoms (we feel serious delusional imagination is involved with this botanical decision).

68122 SANSEVIERIA INTERMEDIA [HORT] [VOLKENSII?] AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 15.00 CURRENTLY LIMITED Short rigidly curved leaves horny-edged in very compact, tight rosettes. Manda's clone (we bought this in the mid 70s at Manda's Greenhouses in N.J.), habit of an extreme skinny aethiopica type: A dependable dwarf houseplant subject tolerating very unfavorable conditions. Coloration can vary from green to some banding on this slow growing but distinct plant, depending on level of light saturation and on amount of fertilizer. Unusual. Best inquire as to availability before ordering as this is quite slow to propagate, and seems much in demand by Asian collectors.

60871 SANSEVIERIA JAVANICA AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 10.00 Short vertically challenged rosettes out arched in tight extremely abbreviated rotund rosettes. The slight gloss and deep tones these compact sculptures achieve in indirect light can be considerably amplified by growing this under lites where it looks like a miniature hahnii sidetracked by a sausage stuffer. These mahogany tinted dark squat plump recurved rosettes form a mounded carpet of multiple heads in time--'tis a wonder that HBO simply doesn't feature it in a series called FAT HEMP. Certainly one of the prize small statured Sansevieria--we need to be grateful to Alice Waidhoffer for distributing this charmer.

68127 SANSEVIERIA KIRKII KIRKII AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 18.00 Bold erect rosette with curved flat cardboard-stiff leaves with gray-green mottling/barring and horned reddish wavy edges; juvenile plants from leaf cuts initially have flat-spreading leaves. Handsome easily grown Zanzibar native with white flowers tinted green and scented most oddly. Always popular with collectors who have a sunny spot where humidity is not an active concept and decide they want the "Plain Jane" of the kirkiis to round out their set. It most emphatically does not have the fab coloration of the next offerings.

68125 SANSEVIERIA KIRKII PULCHRA AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 10.00 Known horticulturally as S. metallica; or as the "Star Sansevieria." Wide flattened rosette of thick wide stiftly undulant leaves richly mottled pale green on black-emerald; astonishing cone-shaped inflorescence of greenish-white scented blossoms (we say "scented"; we do not say "fragrant" as do some books and catalogues). Zanzibar native. (Actually they may indeed smell of greenish-white.)

68126 SANSEVIERIA KIRKII PULCHRA M19521 AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 15.00 Thick curving, sometimes nearly prostrate leaves, richly mottled black-green, with very dramatic blackish mahogany stripes streaming from base, as if some new concept of plaid were in the works--the whole framed with the bright white parchment edges. Choice form which sometimes offered as 'Coppertone" (!?!) or described as 'variegated' by growers; but we strongly and emphatically feel that it is more accurate to consider this to be more richly "patterned" form than the species form. This distinction is further imperative because we do maintain and occassionally offer an actual variegated selection of the species with wide cream stripes--a clone certainly not to be confused with the standard S. kirkii pulchra. Very beautiful; very easily grown if you avoid scalding sun and any chill.

68409 SANSEVIERIA KIRKII PULCHRA PINK FLOWERED CLONE AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 50.00 The dramatic foliage sports a pellucid glaucous surface "bloom." This is Chahinian's clone (which seems very very close to Grigsby's "Special Clone" or "Super Form") which will eventually produce prodigious large thick leaves far more erect than the other species forms with a ghostly surface tone and paperlike edge. Slow to establish but worth the wait. The foliage is not pink; the seldom produced flower is. But the foliage is very distinctive and different from the other Sansevieria kirkii clones. In short supply at times due to the continued high demand for this impressive creature.

68133 SANSEVIERIA LONGIFLORA AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 5.00 Longwood clone of "Botswana Hemp" Rugged upright sword leaves with pale green to olive blushed cross-marks and horny-corky rim. Handsome, though not particularly colorful. Name reflects distinction from S. guineensis, for this has flowers with distinctively long corolla tubes held erect in a "head," that is, if you can coax it into bloom. Of more botanical than horticultural interest.

68134 SANSEVIERIA LONGIFLORA VARIEGATA AGA TGH PRICE: $ 35.00Impressive "Botswana Striped Hemp" with tall wide (but not thick) succulent leaves much taller than and more erect than variegated guinensis cultivars--which are also even more chill sensitive. Striped gray, golden lime, milky basil and faded ivory; corky rims can be ivory or appear in a dark green variation. A word of caution: too highly variegated to tolerate even a short period of chill. We will not ship this until the night temperatures are reliably warm.

68247 SANSEVERIA MANOLIN [HORT] AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 35.00 Beautifully pinkish-cream striations over the arched sword leaves (appearing only as two or three per node, suggesting a possible affinity to S. guineensis); one of the most beautiful of all variegated plants--the original was found in Puerto Rico by Plant Shop's Botanic Gardens. Has no chill tolerance whatsoever.

68285 SANSEVIERIA MASONIANA PRICE: $ 15.00 The fabulous "Mason Congo" paddle, originally from Grigsby. GC 133-78, with beautiful dappled paterns of subtle mottling on unusually wide leathery glaucous leaves. Gets very large. Slow growing initially, but eventually gathers momentum to indulge in its favorite hobby--that of casually breaking through any plastic container to achieve its impressive astoundingly handsome presence. Not a plant for the faint of heart.

68410 SANSEVIERIA METALLICA GAY'S CLONE AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 15.00 Fleshy erect bright olive toned sward leaves with wide center parading the paintbrush chevrons of pale lime; although the stolons are not red as in original desciptions, this attractive clone does sport rather rusty orange stolons.

68249 SANSEVIERIA OKEECHOBEE [HORT]A AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 10.00 Delightful miniature upright clustering rosettes of dark green short semi-glossed leaves; very attractive modest variant which was originally found by Clyde Reed at an Okeechobee nursery. Perhaps a species traped in a juvenile form. Not cupped or wide spreading like the hahnii "Birdsnest" crew.

68139 SANSEVIERIA PARVA AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 5.75 "Kenya Hyacinth" Thick deep green banded leaves in small dense rosettes which send out long pendant runners (stolons) ending in tiny plantlets; thus, excellent choice for growing in baskets. Fragrant palest pink bottlebrush blooms. Also known as S. d'amabilise, in early Sansevieria books, this species is deservedly popular as it always remains small statured, requires less than ideal conditions, tolerates shade and survives neglect.

68141 SANSEVIERIA PARVA MARGINATA AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 25.00 There are several forms of this plant. We are offering the form with a golden edge. Pictures #1 and #2 show this plant. It is very handsome. Periodically we have available a white striated form (Picture #3); but this latter plant grows very slowly and with not be available probably for a good while at this point. It will be decidedly higher in cost.

68142 SANSEVIERIA PATENS AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 22.00USDA 19516. Fat overstuffed sausage leaves with deep furrows form congested off-setting clumps; nearly distichous congested semi-columns eventually topped with white blossoms faintly scented. A most attractive compact plant seeming more to mimic a Gasteria on pygmy steroids than any more typical "Hemp Plant."

Groups of our Variegated Sansevieria! Ask about availibility. Click on Thumbnail see larger image!

68144 SANSEVIERIA PHILLIPSIAE [HORT] AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 25.00 Cylindric grooved dangerously rigid leaves form a stiff fountain outline--appearance of a S. cylindrica becoming a trunked miniature tree. Handsome weapon. We have observed many varied plants under this name; our Kew Gardens clone remains distinct from any others we maintain.

68147 SANSEVIERIA PINGUICULA AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 50.00Silvery-gray thick horny wedge leaves, channeled on top with rounded swollen underside, tipped with sharp spine--looks like an Agave trying to morph into a punk sausage. Kenyan native with odd paniculate horizontally branched inflorescence of swollen tube flowers. A formidable, yet easily grown, presence in any collection.

68153 SANSEVIERIA SCHWEINFURTHII AGAV HP TGH PRICE: $ 25.00 LIMITED AVAILABILITY Rigidly stiff, terete leaves, glossy deep green, form tight distichous fans; further distinguished by its unspined flattened leaf tips and keeled bases. Very beautiful rare Eritrean native. And of such a deliberate growth rate as to remain always rare!

68154 SANSEVIERIA SENEGAMBICA [CORNUI] AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 3.50 Short upright curved leaves flattening toward the tip end with a slim point, the surface a matte-green with faint banding. Good compact waxy leaved species with reddish rhizomes & violet-white flowerss. If grown in a moss or coconut fiber basket, it loves to send forth stolons thru the medium to emerge through the fiber to form new plantlets resulting in an amazing "globe" of foliage being achieved--a trick also endearing this very compact grower to designers of succulent wreaths. Very easily grown houseplant with the endearing trick of elevating itself up out of its container--not very fussy about light intensities.

68579 SANSEVIERIA SOCOTRA [HORT] X FISHERI AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 25.00Attractive hybrid: short (in full sun never more than a foot in length) outarched thick leaves, obtriangular in cross section, with dark bands and distinct rim form an open armed "rosette"--perfect in a moss basket as new stolons plunge through. We are not aware of the origin of this modestly attractive cross--but would appreciate being enlightened.

68269 SANSEVIERIA SP. KENYA #1 AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 5.00 One of the infamous "Hedgehog" types less glossy than S. gracilis and less colorfully banded than S. suffruticosa, with deeply grooved slim cylindric leaves with bright crossbands & bright papery horned edges; produces cascades of rigidly outthrust stolons with the plantlets rigidly held in tinker-toy positions defying all laws of gravity.

68271 SANSEVIERIA SP. KOKO CRATER AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 50.00 Originally from the late Ed Eby who collected this from an abandoned USDA planting on this Hawaiian crater. Bright avocado green very rigid leaves with irregular chevrons in rigid fans punctuating a thick stolon. This is a cylindrica form that has runners that zigzag directly over the pot and over the edges. Like a squat short S. cylindrica with ridged indentations up and down the stem. Rather uncommon; unique for being more obviously distichous than other stoloniferous "hedgehog' types.

68157 SANSEVIERIA SPICATA (HORT:CONCINNA?) AGA HP TGH PRICE: $8.50 "Tea Spoon Hemp" Manda's compact houseplant with unique spatulate short leaves of deep green ending in "spoon handle" bottoms; pale fragrant tubular flowers. Certainly one of the most attractive and appealing of the small statured "Hemps" even if its botanic identity remains in limbo .

68162 SANSEVIERIA SUBSPICATA [HORT] AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.75 This clone we have is from Manda's collection, representing the most easily grown form most common in USA--Deep green-black undulate wide leaves on slender petioles, with bright horned edges; the very short leaves overlap in irregular tostled rosettes. Tolerant of much neglect. Some customers enjoy starting this in a mossed wire topiary whereupon it gradually sticks out its meandering stolons to form writhing rosettes of foliage eventually covering the entire surface--quite wonderful, although requiring patience. This stoloniferous trick also endears this very compact plant with succulent wreath designers as well. We hope not to be accused of shameless price gouging on this guy.

68084 SANSEVIERIA SULCATA [BACULARIS] AGA TGH HP PRICE: $ 12.00 Narrow cylindrical "Narwhal Plant" leaves in groups of one to three shoot up ridgidly from the purplish basal sheaths to reach two foot heights. Dramatic if given full sun to encourage the rigid growth--can arch dangerously if the leaves emerge in lower light conditions. Unlike the very similar S. canaliculata, the leaves are essentially less furrowed, seldom curved.

68434 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA BANTEL'S SENSATION PRICE: $ 18.00 White and ocher-cream stripes with occasional yellow and dark green furrows accent the very erect succulent leaves; the "White Snakeplant" typically has a narrow green edge. 1940s laurentii sport originating in St. Louis. Because this is a trifasciata cultivar, the leaves are far more erectly rigid, of thicker substance, and often more numerous per head than those of Sansevieria 'Manolin' with which it seems to be occassionally confused among hobbyists. Avoid chill as the leaves are so extremely variegated that brown spots soon appear if exposed to cold temperatures. This has long been among the most popular rare Sansevierias we offer.

61094 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA BLACK MAGIC AGA HP PRICE: $ 12.00 Erect very dark emerald leaves with dramatic gold edge; very similar to the more dramatic 'goldiana' clones.

68221 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA BLACK SPORT/FORM AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 25.00 Very slow growing "Ebony Hemp" Rough surface of blackish-green. Very distinctive rugose surfaced extremely vertical foliage makes this a curosity in any collection. Ken Frieling found this unique curiosity in a random heap in a central Florida roadside nursery too many years ago for him to admit the date. If anyone has ever found an original clonal name for this distinctly coriaceus critter, please let us know.

68223 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA CRANE'S BLACK SPORT AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 32.00 Remarkable erect tulip-shaped rosette of black-green leaves with bright gold rim. Habit similar to nelsonii or to a giant incurved 'Loops's Pride' but more ornate than either of these. Unique very slow growing treasure from Ruth Crane's remarkable collection. Our stock is back up after several years of nearly overwhelming demand for this rarity.

68205 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA CRAIGII AGA TGH PRICE: $ 45.00Long flexible creamy yellow, nearly translucent leaves with gray-green milky center and narrow dark green rims. Regular upright rosettes of trifasciata--not the irregular wavy foliage of guineensis although the coloration is similar! Astounding. Our clone was bought at Manda's Greenhouse decades ago--an heirloom totally intolerant of chill. Not as vigorous as the irregularly random forms of 'Wagner's Gold.'

68415 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA DARIA AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 22.00 Juan Chahinian's clone: Dark out arched thick leaves with central bundle of bright lime pinstripes along billowing groves set off with rich buttery yellow margins showing barely a trace of crossbands. Somewhat compact in stature, easy to grow by nature even though quite slow to establish, and very pleasant on the eyes.

68227 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA FUTURA AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 15.00 Large beautiful "Bowl Hemp" European import with unusually wide leaves richly mottled and banded yellow. Handsome and very reliable houseplant of the first order. Originally an European import of obscure origin (although reportedly seen in Italy initially by Tony Falco); sometimes distributed as S. gigantea. Possibly not a trifasciata sport , but probably a hybrid. Very reliable.

68226 SANSEVIERIA TRI~ FUTURA GILT EDGE AGA TGH PRICE: $ 25.00Clone from Ed Eby with tight rosettes of large wide waxy leaves rimmed with golden cream edge--no wide border. This is an unusually slow growing clone with few offsets. Sometimes sports a stripe appearing in mid-leaf. Not as showy or fast growing as the basic 'Futura' but of interest to the collector. The second picture here is of Sansevieria Futura Aurea; this plant is not available at this time.

Groups of our Variegated Sansevieria! Ask about availibility. Click on Thumbnail see larger image!

60923 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA GOLD FLAME PRICE: $ 50.00 Highly variegated and very thick leaves tend to arch out in proper light. In Futura group perhaps as openly vase forming leaves (the Dutch would say "tulip shaped") are more open and shorter than typical trifasciata cultivars. The inner emerging leaf on mature plants can be totally golden. Nearly the opposite variegation of the similarly statured 'Crane's Black Sport'--but the two would constitute basic rarieties for any serious collection of unique cultivars of hemp.

68171 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA GOLDIANA [HORT] AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 10.00 Very dark green thick lance leaves with broad butter yellow marginal bands & faint marbled banding; popular for color contrast and erect habit. Our form is from the Manda's Nursery's important collection of original cultivars, obviously similar to 'laurentii compacta' which may merely be one of several new Florida names for this ancient heirloom clone: Considered a sport from Seidel's nursery in Brazil sometime in the lost middle of the last century.

68172 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA GOLDIANA SLIPPED STRIPES AGA PRICE: $10.00 Selection from Ruth Crane who claimed to have named it thus before she traded it with other collectors: The golden-yellow banding on either side of the thick waxy leaves does not match. `Lillian True' (a remarkable California collector with whom Crane traded plants) may be the more current name for this popular selection--the debate as to which name came first will never be resolved.

68343 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA GRANDMOTHER SEIBERT AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 22.00 Typical trifasciata habit with very erect dark toned slim leaves--no gray tones appear--distinguished by furling tops & rich thick (but very narrow) creamy gold rims; not a typical laurentii type. We have increased our stock block in order to accomodate the increasing orders for this quite distinctive tall cultivar named for the Iowa matron.

68230 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA GRAY LADY AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 18.00Narrow upright leaves of gray-green (not silvery) usually edged in darker green; compact upright; not 'Silver Queen'-- Manda's `Plumbea' and the Florida `Silver Parva' appear to be apparently alternative trade names. One of the best smaller forms, but slow to offset.

THE BIRDSNEST SANSEVIERIES

The Five Birdsnest Sansevierias above are all in good supply.
They are listed below with prices and descriptions!
Click on Thumbnail see larger image!

68173 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA HAHNII AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.25 The original "Birdsnest Plant" Cup-shaped tight rosette of broad spiral leaves dark green with paler crossbanding; freely suckers to form a clump. Found in New Orleans in 1939 and considered to be trifasciata trapped in a juvenile form. Common as dirt, but still totally reliable and cute as a button.

68179 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA HAHNII CROSBY'S MARGINATA AGA PRICE: $15.00 Slim edge of creamy white to yellow on very open rosette of thin leaves. Not widely margined as is the far more vigorous and showier 'Hahnii Margined.' Uncommon as is slow to offset.

68187 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA HAHNII GOLDEN HAHNII AGA PRICE: $12.50 "Golden Birdsnest." Grow in a porous mix and avoid chill. This is the clone originating in Hahn's Pittsburg greenhouses ages ago with wide creamy yellow variegation on an open widespreading rosette. Quite beautiful.

68413 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA HAHNII JADE AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 10.00 "Jade Birdsnest Plant" One of the most distinctive of the Hahni group as the foliage displays no markings or chevrons on the gorgeous deep jade surfaced thick substanced leaves of deep mahogany green-- the somewhat sheened pointed leaves thickly overlap to form tight upright cups. Very bold. Take a look at the next entry also, for a variegated sport of this beauty.

60980 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA HAHNII JADE MARGINATA AGA HP TGH PRICE: $22.00 "Rimmed Birdsnest Plant" One of the most distinctive of the Hahni group as the foliage has no markings or chevrons, but rather, a most bold golden margin to contrast with the deep jade green of the main body. The contrast is stunning.

68189 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA HAHNII LONGITUDINAL HAHNI PRICE: $ 10.00 "Tartan Birdsnest" Vigorous large cupped rosettes with clear plaid-like dark green crossbanding; very popular. Much larger than the rest of the group.

68414 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA HAHNII MARGINATED AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 15.00 "Banded Birdsnest Plant" Eventually larger than regular hahnii (with a full complement of showy green crossbanding with criss crosses) with broad cream yellow margins. Do not confuse with 'Crosby's Marginata.'

68193 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA HAHNII SEIBERT'S HAHNII AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 12.50 "Seibert's Hahnii" Open furled rosettes of typical hahnii leaves decorated with regularly appearing central soft yellow-ochre stripes--never ever displays banded rims. Subtlely beautiful.

68194 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA HAHNII SILVER FROST AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 35.00 Small rosettes of corrugated, embossed leaves of gray-green irregularly striped silver-gray, cream-yellow, ochre, and edged in darker green. No two offsets are precisely alike. Must be kept perfectly drained & constantly warm. Tempermental: given to fits of rot if allowed to chill. Best grown in litegardens.

68198 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA HAHNII SILVER MARGINATA AGA PRICE: $10.00 "Banded Birdsnest" Metallic gray-green wide leaves margined in creamy yellow margins. Beautiful out-flared wide cupped rosettes become larger than most hahnii cultivars. This tulip-shaped cultivar is slow to offset, thus scarce. Extremely sensitive to chill and intolerant of low light intensity and thus perfect for light gardening culture--yet remains among the most ordered of the entire birdsnest crew.

68196 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA HAHNII STREAKER AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 20.00 Very compact recurved rosettes of dark leaves each centered with bright white-gray solid area. Selected and named by Ken Frieling here at the Glasshouse Works greenhouses--a random `Silver Frost' sport from leafcuttings which remained amazingly stable. Sent to Ruth Crane who later distributed this as `Silver Streak' & `Swirls.' indeed, some pups are more swirled than others, but these (also dimunitive) sports preversely produce non swirled offsets . . . The true 'Streaker' always has medio-picta type variegation. And is ever so cute, even if we say so ourselves.

68441 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA MANGETSU AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 22.00"Full Moon Hemp" Rather than silvery gray, this slow growing laurentii type has rich pearly olive leaves edged yellow-ochre; faint chevrons appear in bright light. Very bright showy cultivar which must have reliable heat and full sunlight to achieve its pearly tones.

68235 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA MEDIO-PICTA AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 10.00 Irregular central stripes of subtle yellow & ochre--the color becomes more showy as the leaf ages. Slow to offset, but quite beautiful and seldom seen outside personal collections.

68248 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA MEIN LEIBLING AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 38.00Short thickened dirvish-curved strapleaves of waxy green with odd ochre-olive margins--the whole stippled with decorative darker bands. Marvelous totally unique clone shared with us by Alice Waidhofer who named this impressive beauty. Always in demand.

77236 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA MOONSHINE AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 10.00 Also marketed from time to time as `Silver Moon' or `Moonglo.' Handsome large open vase of creamy silver-green wide overlapping leaves--certainly one of the most beatiful of all the truely reliable houseplants. European introduction of obscure derivation; always a visual treat. Has the same habit as 'Futura,' but there the similarity ends!

68399 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA MORGENSTERN'S AUREA AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 35.00 Larger than the hahnii crew (but with colors of 'Silver Frost') but not quite achieving the stature of 'Futura'; quite beautiful, but very slow to offset.Very rare clone, much sought after among the collectors--Our clone derives from the (now at Kew) Morgenstern collection which was shared with us by Tony Falco and thus is the exact clone pictured in Morgenstern's illustrated book "Sansevierias.". This now seems to have gathered some Japanese clonal names as well!

68216 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA NELSONII AGA HP TGH SOLD OUT UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE Oscar Nelson's 1943 laurentii sport: tight erect leaves of rich solid dark dull-gloss green. The "Black Sansevieria" makes a unique slow-growing houseplant for low light areas. Sorry: our stock is not keeping up with demand currently.

68323 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA PULSAR AGA HP TGH PRICE: $45.00 Frank Neitz name for a distinct form possibly related to `Bantel' or "Forescate" from the former OSU collection: Tall erect sword leaves with pale gold coloration with deep green margins with transverse lines showing. To us, this appears to be a dwarf and narrow form of "Forescate." You might want to inquire first before ordering as this is very slow to increase and much sought after by Asian collectors. This is a true rarity.

68240 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA SILVER QUEEN AGA HP TGH PRICE: $10.00"Silver Snakeplant" of a more reduced stature than most cultivars. Elegant narrow silver gray lance leaves maintain clear color in elegant upright vase-rosettes. Do not confuse with the smaller 'Gray Lady.'

68436 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA SOPHIA AGA HP PRICE: $ 22.00 Limited at times. Bright gold margins with dark pleated centers curiously striated. The thick centered strap leaves form a distinctive outreaching vase shaped rosette with maturity unlike other cultivars.

68432 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA FUTURA TWISTED SISTER AGA HP PRICE: $ 22.00 Slightly slimmer than regular 'Futura,' the bright olive leaves with goldbanded edges form an unique sideways twist. Always a serious visual tweak in any assemblage of Sansevieria cultivars.

68243 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA WAGNER'S GOLD AGA HP TGH PRICE: $ 55.00 Irregular golden yellow striping random throughout the leaf--the only consistent characteristic is its inconsistency. Robert Wagner's selection remains hard to describe as it keeps transforming: doubtless among the most striking of the recent variegates (the coloration places it near 'Craigii') even though its urge to morph can be distracting. Perfect for the totally jaded collector of variegates.

68214 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA X DESERTI H-13 AGA PRICE: $ 10.00 USDA hybrid with erect curved leaves, very thick, semi-terete, so that a cross-section resembles a "Crescent Moon" with a cat's tail of mottled bands fading with age. Apparently the same as USDA19527: H51-13. Interesting, easy houseplant.

69389 SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA X DESERTI H-13 VARIEGATE AGA TGH HP 45.00 Grigsby clone with very thick succulent leaves banded and randomly striped with bright solid gold. Very handsome; very strong of constitution when given high light and porus soil to flourish. Certainly among the most visually striking and culturally durable of the variegated "Mother-in-Law's Tongue" leaf types.

60445 SEDEVERIA HARRY BUTTERFIELD [HYB] CRA HP CGH PRICE: $ 4.75 "Mule Tail" Easily grown (in full light and adequate moisture with perfect drainage) large "Burro Tail" with tightly packed pearl-toned leaves completely covering the cascading succulent stems; considered a Hummel creation named for one of his contemporary nurserymen.

60458 SEDUM ADOLPHII CRA CGH HP PRICE: $ 4.25 "Golden Glo" Arched stems heavy with thickly-set golden green keeled blimpshpaed leaves developing coppery margins in bright light; Mexican native with white flower clusters. A must in any succulent wreath.

60462 SEDUM BURRITO CRA HP CGH PRICE: $ 3.75 Smaller, rounder & whiter leaves than the traditionall "Burrotail" on strong stiff cascading stems; silvery meal-dusted leaves less likely to shatter than other similar species. The best form by far for a dramatic hanging basket plant; wonderful in succulent wreath designs.

60466 SEDUM LINEARE VARIEGATUM CRA CGH HP HH PRICE: $ 4.25 "Star Sedum" Soft much-branched ascending stems are covered with soft white-margined leaves; Its low mat-forming quality makes this a common cascading basket subject and a natural for succulent wreaths. Cool winters trigger this Japanese species to cover itself with starry yellow flowers late spring. Although listed in various books as Z6 or Z7 winter hardy, it has never survived a winter here outdoors. We list it as a tropical, but it is often used in the south as a perennial.

60469 SEDUM MAKINOI MARGINATUM CRA CGH HH HP PRICE: $ 4.00 "Snow Ladder" General habit and character of S. lineare, but the white-edged shingled spatulate leaves are rounded--overlapping on trailing soft stems to form "stairways"; yellow flowers. Japanese native much used by wreath designers and basic in succulent dish gardens.

61011 SEDUM MAKINOI OGON INFO PRICE: $ 4.00 Wonderful "Golden Stonecrop" with tiny fleshy spatulate leaves shingled on the fat prostrate stems--eventually forming a perfect carpet for succulent bonsai, or an underplanting for a leggy jade, a natural for moss topiary and wreaths, or (for Z8 & warmer) an outdoor groundcover; the yellow gold flower heads need a chill fall/winter to be triggered into forming buds.

60470 SEDUM MEXICANUM CRA HP CGH PRICE: $ 4.00 "Mexican Stonecrop" Mounds of waxy fresh-green soft needle shaped leaves densely packed on hidden fat toppling stems--makes a perfect ground cover for stemmy pot plants; quite basic for decorative small hanging baskets or dish gardens; a basic for succulent wreaths and small moss topiary. Starry yellow flowers usually appear late winter on this amazingly undemanding stonecrop.

60471 SEDUM MORGANIANUM CRA HP CGH PRICE: $ 4.00 "Burro Tail" Pendant stems covered with fat spindle-shaped silvery-white leaves. Handsome when overhead watering (like: rain) is avoided--this is not the easily grown S. burrito. The leaves easily shatter--we prefer not to ship this as the plant usually arrives with the leaves (which do root) separated from the stems! Usually mailed as a mossed unrooted cutting to avoid this separation as much as possible.

66279 SEDUM PREAULTUM CRA HP CGH PRICE: $3.50 Rather distinctive Jade like sedum that grows fast and furious. Very rewarding succulent for the novice collector.

60859 SEDUM PREALTUM CRISTATUM CRA HP CGH PRICE: $ 8.00 Bronzy avacado green flat fleshy leaves on upright widely flattened (fasciated) succulent stems, thus creating art deco "Jade Cockscomb" shapes.

60478 SEDUM RUBROTINCTUM AURORA CRA CGH HP PRICE: $ 9.00 Cascading delicate stems covered with totally pink jellybean leaves. Demands very bright cool condions. Most emphatically not a houseplant, yet extremely popular as no other succulents have such a vivid presence of translucent pinkness. Difficult to ship without anticipating considerable shattering of jellybeans. Remember that this requires bright cool conditions to maintain.

61217 SEDUM [SPECIES?] FROSTBITE CRA HH PRICE: $3.25 Tiny tumbling mounds of fleshy gray foliage; very lovely delicate appearance, but of robust and fast growth. Perfect groundcover in any succulent container.

60450 SEDUM [SEDEVERIA] VERA HIGGINS [HYB] CRA HP CGH PRICE: $ 4.25 Modest-sized carpets of slim stems punctuated by plump pinkish-green to dusky rose leaves--color marbled coral in full sun; forms full toppling mounded "Chocolate Donkeytail." Unusual lovely mounding carpet originally from Hummel.

66065 SELENICEREUS URBANIANUS MONSTROSUS CAC TGH PRICE: $ 8.50. "Sausage Cactus" Sport of the Cuban species with spineless swollen "sausage" stems in linked (extruded?) sections. Marvelously bizarre effect for any collecton of oddities. Sometimes sent as a unrooted cutting in dry moss--grow as an epiphyte.

SENECIO for the 2010 SEASON

The SUCCULENT DAISY TRIBE is, like other fleshy leafed Sedums, Kalanchoes, Agaves, Talinums, etc., rapidly achieving major star status among designers searching for quick growing showy blue, gray, golden, and pelted foliage plants for patio containers, windowboxes, summer bedding and outrageous hanging basket combinations. Various of the rarer slow growing Senecios below are caudiform and deserve a good bonsai pot to emphasize their fat bottoms. If you think we need to put together & offer a collection of these easily grown showy creatures, let us know.

60563 SENECIO ARTICULATUS COMP HP CGH PRICE: $ 4.25 "Sausage Daisy" or "Candle Plant" Purple-etched swollen stem sections (like bluish Vienna sausage links weaving around) with terminal tufts of deeply lobed incised leaves (soon deciduous); pallid yellow flowers in season. Sun loving Cape of Africa native usually sent as an unrooted/somewhat rooted division in dry moss or perlite.

60570 SENECIO CLIFFORDIANUS COMP HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.50 "Sudan Kleinia" Tongue-shaped grayish foliage on erect succulent stems. This elegantly toned easily grown species is newly popular again as it beautifully complements hotter colors in urn, windowbox, and patio container combinations of tropicals in the summer (temperate zone) garden. The silvery gray foliage works well in many combinations.

60571 SENECIO CRASSISSIMUS COMP HP CGH PRICE: $ 5.00 Vertical ranks of handsome laterally positioned purple-rimmed flattened thick leaves cling closely attached to the thick swollen erect stems. Eventuall produces yellow tip blossoms like tiny dandelions. Really develops true presence in time. Madagascar native.

60572 SENECIO CUNEATUS [KLEINIIFORMIS] COMPHP CGH PRICE: $4.75 "Harpoon Daisy" or "Spearhead Plant" Blue-gray stems sport many thick grooved leaves with incurved notches at the tips resembling medieval spikes. Easily grown unique houseplant.; excellent addition to summertime deck containers as well as the texture and color add considerable visual interest to any planting.

60574 SENECIO FULGENS COMP HP CGH PRICE: $ 5.50 "Scarlet Kleinia" A truely big-bottomed daisy with swollen caudiform base supporting thick stems bending under spirals of succulent toothed leaves richly dusted blue (violet pruinose in full sun); topped with large striking red paint-brush flowers--very dramatic combined with the foliar colors. Natal native demanding very perfect drainage and sunny location. But what a performance!

60577 SENECIO GRANTII COMP HP CGH PRICE: $ 8.75 Modest caudiform species with spatulate blue-gray dusted leaves on reddish-gray shoots; habit similar to S. fulgens--but not nearly as dramatic.

68489 SENECIO HIMALAYA [HYB] COMP CGH HP PRICE: $ 8.75 Thick erect stems obscured by closely packed slim glaucous foliage--like a fabulous blue toned bottlebrush perfect in any combination planting. European introduction from the Senecio vitallis complex recently being marketed as a windowbox or urn companion planting.

60580 SENECIO IMPLEXUS COMP HP TGH PRICE: $ 3.75 "Maasai Carpet" Lovely fuzzy-velvet avacado-green thick leaves archly dangle on thick cascading stems with swollen roots; makes a handsome carpet groundcover or an extraordinary hanging basket subject. One of the easiest furry creatures for your garden combinations. As the fat stems are willing to root as they roam, this is an ideal furry creature to train around and around your succulent wreath for a knockout result.

60581 SENECIO JACOBSENII [PETRAEUS] COMP HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.00 "Vining / Trailing Jade" Glossy round-edged fleshy overlapping leaves shingle the thick trailing stems; excellent windowbox or hanging basket plant especially with its showy orangy yellow cushion flowers mid-winter. Like S. implexus, the fat succulent stems love to root into any media as they roam about, making this a perfect beautiful vine to wrap around and around your succulent wreath for a fantastic shingled look. A very high performance easily grown fat and sassy vine.

60582 SENECIO JACOBENSII VARIEGATUS COMP HP TGH PRICE: $ 8.50 Beautiful "Trailing Jade" clone with each rounded glossy jade leaf richly margined in creamy yellow; stunning. Always considered to be among the first rank of succulent variegates by serious collectors; yet an easily grown beautiful succulent vine for all hobbyists.

60584 SENECIO MEDLEY-WOODII COMP HP CGH PRICE: $ 12.50Short stems hold wide flat leaves, keeled below, with thick silvery-pelted surfaces fading to a glabrous violet-brown--prefers cool and humid-less conditions to do well (that is, to maintain a beautiful pelt). Yellow ray-flowered Natal native. Usually sent as an URC in dry moss. Not easy, but distinctive.

60587 SENECIO ORBICULARIS COMP HP CGH PRICE: $ 5.50 "Succulent Nasturtium" Vigorous cascading vine with peltate leaves grayer, thicker, more star-like (rayed "teeth") than the similar S. tropaeolifolius; from the Transvaal.

60593 SENECIO ROWLEYANUS COM HP TGH 6.00 "String of Pearls / of Peas" Dense mats of adventitiously rooting weak stems topped with spherical pea-sized leaves with translucent stripe; whitish ray flowers with brownish anthers are less than beautiful, but do have cinnamon scent. This never develops more than surface roots, so plant accordingly with an extremely porus mix in a shallow container with very high light conditions.

60598 SENECIO SERPENS BLUE ICE COMP HP CGH PRICE: $ 3.50 The stout basally branching stems of the compact "Blue Ice Plant" support the elongated fat beautifully blue-dusted erect leaves on thick upright stems. Sometimes identified as Senecio mandraliscae "Blue Chalk." Much sought after by the new trendy "tropicals in the temperate garden" designers. This will punch up the colors of any companion plant.

60601 SENECIO STAPELIIFORMIS COMP HP CGH 6.50 "Candystick Plant" Underground shoots emerge to form erect thick silvery-green stems with purple-green art deco patterns; red flowers can be quite a suprise. We have found that the most reliable shipping method involves a division of this stoloniferous species sent in dry perlite or moss.

68488 SENECIO SCHWARTZII [KLEINIA S.] COMP CGH PRICE: $ 5.50"Burole Kleinia" Thick upright stems topped with fleshy slim leaves at the growing tip. Collected by Herman Schwartz at the Burole Mountains in Kenya, and originally released as HBG77438; ISI2002-29. Looks like a glossy basil green S. spiculosus/cliffordianus type, but can form a swollen base in time.

60603 SENECIO TROPAEOLIFOLIUS COMP HP CGH PRICE: $4.25 "Succulent Nasturtium" Cluster of curiously articulated tuberous roots support wiry vines with peltate irregularly rounded leaves which show a red rim in high light. Popular mimic. Shown to best advantage when grown in a hanging basket kept away from direct sun.

60604 SENECIO TUBEROSUS COMP HP CGH PRICE: $ 4.25 Elaborate several-sectioned caudiform tuberous bases send up slim stems usually toppling under the small gray leaves. A good starting point plant to see if you wish to start a collection of caudex plants for this fat daisy has no dormancy cycle, no fear of full sun or part shade, and no dilemmas over the possibly irregular watering habits of its master.

50528 SETCREASEA [TRADESCANTIA] PALLIDA TAMPICANA COMM HP CGH PRICE: $ 4.75 Heavy curved (nearly keeled) laquered leaves of rich bronzy blushed purple on short stoloniferous stems; pale violet flowers in toppling clusters. Most unusual short stemmed succulent vine of unclear nomenclature, considered a native of Ecuador. Must have high light like its cousin, the "Purple Heart" Setcreasea pallida.. *Other Setcreasea and Callisia are offered in the TROPICAL PLANTS section of this website.

60167 STAPELIAGIGANTEA ASC HP TGH PRICE: $ 3.50 "Carrion Flower" Felted, angled stems with large balloon buts opening into yellowish starflowers lined in smokey red-brown with umber and white hairs. Flies love the penetrating odor. Usually sent as an ample cutting in dry perlite

67358 SYNADENIUM CUPULARE [ARBORESCENS] EUP HP CGH PRICE: $ 10.00 "Sheba Valley Death Tree" Compact trunk studded with flat slightly splotched leaves held rigidly; nondescript green inflorescence last quite long. Very poisonous; once Euphorbia arborescens, so do avoid contact with the oddly colored milky sap. We probably should run a quick psych profile on all prospective buyers of this quite politically incorrect species.

67359 SYNADENIUM GRANTII RUBRA EUP HP TGH PRICE: $4.25 "Purple Leaf Brown Jug Plant" or Tanzanian "Red Milk Bush" Thick upright woody/succulent trunk and side branches adorned with beautiful succulent leaves wine red with slight green flecking, purple beneath; red inflorescence featuring unusual bracts. Very attractive, very easy to grow with bright light to full sun. Quite imposing when manipulated into a staked topiary standard.

67360 SYNADENIUM GRANTII VARIEGATA EUP HP TGH PRICE: $ 2.50 "Brown Jug" Succulent olive-tan leaves freely flecked with purple; bizarre clusters of red autumn flowers. This is a botanical, not horticultural, use of the term 'variegata.' Easy traditional houseplant which is quite astounding if grown into a succulent standard.
