20016 AESCHYNANTHUS MICRANTHUS VARIEGATE GES HP CGH PRICE: $ 4.50 "Variegated Himalayan Lipstick Plant" The leathery glossy foliage emerges with ivory-white striations which fades with time into bright lime brushings--striking with the intense small red-purple flowers. Easily grown small statured species prefering cooler temperatures to produce the best variegation. While most Aeschynanthus produce heavy outarching stems gradually elongating until they cascade down (and thus best displayed as an older specimen in a hanging basket), this species is more delicately statured, quite at home in a tall pot on your windowsill or in your lightgarden. Always popular as is easily bloomed and tends to survive the occassional watering (underwatering?) mishap.

The Flame Violets below are the one we expect to have available this Fall. When the warmer weather, things always change. If you cannot keep your temps consistently above 58 degree Fahrenheit, then do not try them. We are working to introduce again a group of Episcea that we have not offered for a while. We have the following for shipment in the spring. If you have keep these under lights or in a good window, Flame Violets can bloom all winter long.

Butterfly pattern is formed and highlighted on the lower petals in the cranberry color. Great for house culture; perhaps good under light. Note the compact bushing habit. Amazingly popular! Certainly a case of having your 'tater cake and eating it too. We are impressed that this is the most ordered cultivar during some past seasons. 40422 JASMINUM SAMBAC OLE HP TGH PRICE: $ 10.00 "Arabian Jasmine" Wide oval leaves on woody climbing shrub; one inch wide heavy white single fls of intense fragrance-- traditionally used to flavor tea. "Pikake" blossoms fade to palest violet throughout the year--sacred to Vishnu. This clone from the National Botanic Garden's collection is very slow maturing (unlike the following commercial selections) and not notably vigorous even in greenhouse conditions.

HARDY WINTER BLOOMS OUTSIDE

Don't forget about some of our hardy selections of winter bloomers. These are all hardy at least through Zone 6 unless otherwise noted. "Witch Hazels" (Hamamelis sp.) not available for shipping at this point, but are present at our nursery.
